Named after a film by American director Hal Hartley, the Brit-pop trio Unbelievable Truth were formed in Oxford, England, in 1994 by singer/guitarist Andy Yorke (the younger brother of Radiohead's acclaimed frontman, Thom Yorke), bassist Jason Moulster, guitarist Jim Crosskey, and drummer Nigel Powell.
