Texas fast food chain Whataburger unveiled its new look in November when it reopened its location in Bellmead.

The city north of Waco is the first to have the more modern looking Whataburger.

“There’s a lot of things that people hold sacred, if you will, about our brand,” said James Turcotte, senior vice president of real estate for Whataburger, said in a statement “That’s the iconic A-frame, the visuals, our branding, the linkage to our past. We really tried to blend those concepts in the prototype.”

Whataburger is keeping its distinct orange and white, but the new restaurant is boxier and has large windows throughout the entire dining room. The restaurant at North Loop 340 and Interstate 35 also has subtle references to Bellmead landmarks and the local community.

"Look closely at the wallpaper and you’ll find the city’s water tower, the MKT railroad yard near where Bellmead got its start, and an ‘LV’ in honor of La Vega High School," restaurant spokesman Will Webber told the Waco-Tribune Herald.

Bellmead customers say they like the design, but it received mixed reaction on social media with more than just a few people saying the new look is boring and Whataburger should stick with it's classic design.

So far Whataburger hasn't said if it'll redesign any of its other 840 locations.
