Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters producer Greg Kurstin vastly expanded the sonic palette of their 'Hanukkah Sessions' covers series over the weekend, adding hip-hop, southern rock and electro for nights 2 - 4 of the annual Festival of Lights.

After kicking off the series last Thursday with a righteous cover of The Beastie Boys' punk rock-inspired hit "Sabotage," Grohl and Kurstin added Drake's 2015 crossover hit "Hotline Bling," Mountain's 1970 classic "Mississippi Queen" and Peaches' obscene but enduring 2000 song "F--k the Pain Away" on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Grohl has covered Christmas songs in the past but explained that he wanted to do something different this year. Since Kurstin is Jewish, the duo teamed up to celebrate the contributions of Abraham's people to the popular music of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Drake, Peaches and Mountain frontman Leslie West were all born to Jewish families.

Halfway through the series, Grohl and Kurstin have issued cover tunes representing four different decades, leaving the '60s and the '90s so far untouched.

Grohl and Kurstin have made clear that they could go in any direction with the remaining four songs. Acts like Rush, KISS, Steely Dan, T. Rex, The Doors, Van Halen, Billy Joel, Lenny Kravitz, Simon & Garfunkel, Barry Manilow, Barbara Streisand, Leonard Cohen, Randy Bachman, Neil Diamond and many others could be next.
