Justin Bieber caught Shawn Mendes "liking" a picture of wife Hailey Baldwin on Instagram — and his response was surprisingly… relaxed.
It all started when Bieber took to social media Wednesday (March 6) to express his love for his wifey by sharing a slew of images of Baldwin on Instagram. That's when the "Lost in Japan" star, who was once linked to the model before she tied the knot with his fellow Canadian, "liked" an image of her behind the wheel, sparking rumors that Mendes' gesture was his way of shooting his shot at Bieber's beloved.
Fortunately for all involved, the "Sorry" crooner debunked the gossip before it had a chance to grow legs, responding to fan account's screenshot of his post, "Their [sic] friends relax."
In other words, move along, people!
Baldwin and Mendes were thought to be an item when they went as each other's date at the 2018 Met Ball. The singer, however, explained at the time that "Hailey and I are friends." Bieber rekindled his romance with the 22-year-old a month after and eventually popped the question to her in July 2018.
Despite the turn of events, Mendes seemed mildly supportive of Baldwin's engagement when asked if he'd sing at their wedding during last year's Global Citizen Festival. "Am I going to sing at the wedding?" Mendes asked, repeating the reporter's question. "Of course I would sing. I’m not invited yet, but I’m sure something will happen soon."
And something did happen: Bieber and Baldwin secretly got married in a private ceremony on September 13!
