NBA YoungBoy will soon be a free man.
According to multiple reports, the 19-year-old rapper, whose legal name is Kentrell Gaulden, will be released from jail on August 15. Youngboy's release will come nearly three months after he was arrested for his involvement in a May 12 shootout in South Florida that left one person dead (a 43-year-old man, who was killed in the crossfire) and two injured (YoungBoy's girlfriend and a five-year-old boy).
In June, a judge sentenced the "Shining Hard" rapper to 90 days in jail and revoked his parole for the shootout, even though he and his team acted in self-defense. Once he is released from jail, Youngboy will be placed on house arrest for 14 months. He is also not allowed to perform during that time.
As fans know, this is not YB's first run-in with the law. Back in February, he was arrested in Atlanta, Georgia following an incident in a hotel room. The Louisiana-born rapper was booked for three misdemeanors — possession of weed (less than an ounce), use of fighting words and physical obstruction with another. Authorities told TMZ at the time, YoungBoy and a woman by the name of Starr Thigpen, were hanging out in a room that "was supposed to be unoccupied" at the Hyatt House when a housekeeper entered the room and a brawl ensued.
Last year, the "No Mentions" rapper was also charged with assault and kidnapping after he was caught on camera brutally beating his then-girlfriend in a hotel hallway. He was additionally arrested for a case connected to a series of shootings in Baton Rouge, Louisiana back in 2016, and was also accused of firing a weapon during a drive-by shooting around that time, TMZ reports.
