Shawn Mendes is the sweetest big brother!
The “Lost in Japan” singer proved as much over the weekend when he unveiled a sweet new tattoo in honor of his younger sister, Aaliyah. Posing shirtless in the image taken by tattoo artist Kane Navasard, Mendes' latest ink work features his sister’s name scrawled in cursive along his collarbone. The illustration was buzzed by the Los Angeles-based tattooist, who captioned the shot with, “A sweet dedication, on the man @shawnmendes.”
As if it weren’t obvious already, the 21-year-old has so much love for his little sister. If you’ve followed the “Stitches” star on Instagram for a while, then you know he occasionally posts sweet brother-sister moments.
Last October, the superstar took to Instagram with some throwback pics from their childhood. One picture showed a pint-sized Shawn making Aaliyah smile and laugh as she rides around in a toy car. Another photo, shared weeks later, shows Baby Shawn holding then-newborn Aaliyah in his arms for a heartfelt Kodak moment.
Apart from being the younger sister of the famous Canadian pop star, Aaliyah is also a starlet in her own right, having risen to social media stardom on the now-defunct video app Vine as Princess Aaliyah.
Shawn’s new tattoo comes weeks after the “In My Blood” crooner seemingly teased some new music he’s been working on amid the quarantine months — possibly his next album, which he first teased in February.
