Sparky the Sun Devil has a face that only ASU fans can love.
A recent survey by the design company Logo Quality Products calls Sparky one of the creepiest and most offensive mascots in college sports.
It asked 1,266 people across the U.S. to score 128 mascots from colleges and universities with NCAA Division 1 football teams. Based on the results, they created top 10 lists for the best and worst mascots; sexiest and unsexiest mascots; creepiest mascots; and the most offensive mascots.
Sparky didn't receive a lot of love. Here's where he ranked on two lists:

The current version of Sparky is actually adorable when you compare it to previous Sparkys. The 1970s costume was pure nightmare fuel.

Sparky is the only non-human character on the offensive list. Some of the mascots on the list have been called racist, but if you google "Sparky the mascot offensive," the only thing that appears is a fake petition to ban the "satanic" character.
The University of Arizona's Wilbur and Wilma Wildcat fared much better in the survey. They were named the #8 "sexiest" mascot.
