Fresh off the heels of lighting the Internet on fire with his polarizing MTV Video Music Awards performance and ensemble on Sunday, Lil Nas X hit the red carpet of the 2021 Met Gala, serving not one or two fierce looks --- but three.
For his first ever appearance at the fashion ball, the Montero rapper arrived at New York's Metropolitan Museum donning a regal Versace cape number before switching to a an elaborate, golden armor look topped with defined, solid gold abs, fit for the young rapper who is known for showing off his fit physique.
For the third look, Lil Nas removed his suit of armor, to reveal his slim, tight-fitting bodycon suit, covered with gold crystals, complete with Versace's signature print. X, who took home the moon man on Sunday for Video Of The Year at the MTV Video Music Awards, described his Met Gala look "Royalty, Armor and Sexy."
The 22-year old star stayed true to the theme of this year's Met Gala, which was "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion," --- an exploration of the nation’s sartorial identity and a deep dive into American ingenuity. No word on Lil Nas' inspiration behind his three iconic looks, but some fans think he may have gotten a bit of inspiration from Billy Porter's infamous 2019 Met Gala look.
One fan wrote, "Lil Nas came for Billy Porter's Throne," while another added, "Lil Nas is coming for Rihanna and Billy Porter, and I am LIVING FOR IT."
Talk about a triple threat.
