Chris Evans has officially been named People's 2022 Sexiest Man Alive. The actor opened up about the title to the outlet saying middle school-aged Evans would "be pumped! This would probably be the road to the cool table which I was not at."
"This whole thing is tough to be interviewed about," he told People. "It feels like a weird form of humble bragging." He went on to say that he's getting ready for some light-hearted jokes from close friends over the title. "Really this will just be a point of bullying," he quipped. "It's ripe for harassment."
However, Evans revealed that at least one person will be purely delighted by the news. "My mom will be so happy. She's proud of everything I do but this is something she can really brag about." People actually sat down with his mom, Lisa, for the Captain America star's cover story. "I am not surprised at all," she said. "Our family will be beside themselves."
Evans's "Sexiest Man Alive" predecessor is actually one of his Marvel co-stars. In 2021, People bestowed the title upon actor Paul Rudd, who portrays Ant-Man in the Marvel cinematic universe.
Just this year, Evans has filmed three new movies including Pixar's Lightyear and Netflix's Gray Man. "When it comes to seeking out the people I play it's more of an issue of where the movie shoots," he says. "I'm too old to be living out of a suitcase for six months and I've settled into a nicer phase where I'm just happy being at home."
