Beach vacations offer many things to vacationers: tropical breeze, sunbathing, outdoor adventures, and an idyllic escape from everything else. With such a destination being popular, competition is hot for which one can attract the most visitors. That's why U.S. News & World Report found the 22 "most beautiful" beaches in the world.

The website states, "To help you decide which picturesque coastlines to prioritize, U.S. News compiled this selection of the world's most awe-inspiring beaches. Whether you crave a leisurely afternoon of lounging atop powdery sand or an active day filled with hiking or water sports adventures, you'll instantly feel at ease while visiting these gorgeous beaches."

Three Florida beaches were featured on the list, and one of them is in South Florida: Miami Beach! Here's why it was chosen:

"This tropical district on Florida's Atlantic Coast is world-renowned for its glamourous clientele, vibrant nightlife and powdery white sand. Although it is technically part of the greater Miami Beach area, South Beach is set apart by its Art Deco architecture evident in everything from the beachfront lifeguard towers to the high-rise buildings along the famed Ocean Drive. Lummus Park – equipped with sand volleyball courts, children's playgrounds and restroom facilities – flanks the crystalline shores. Situated on the northernmost corner of the park, The Betsy South Beach hotel offers luxury accommodations just a few blocks from the Lincoln Road pedestrian mall, where travelers will find opportunities for top-notch shopping, dining and people-watching."

The other two beaches mentioned were Clearwater Beach and Siesta Key. To see why these beaches got the spotlight, and the full rankings, visit travel.usnews.com.
