Son of Cuban Amaury Pérez García, who was a TV director and manager of the famous Tropicana Cabaret, singer/songwriter Amaury Pérez was influenced by local music at a very young age, making his debut by composing an anthem to his elementary school and playing different roles for the Cuban National Television. Inspired by the work of prominent Latin writers, Amaury Pérez began adding music to poems, joining a local movement known as Nueva Trova.
