Annie Nightingale

b. 1 April 1942, London, England. Although most readily associated with the BBC Radio schedules of the 70s and for her presentation of television programme The Old Grey Whistle Test, Nightingale has remained active within broadcasting through to the present. She began her career in newspaper journalism, writing as a columnist for the Daily Express among other publications, before spending 12 years hosting The Request Show on BBC Radio 1 (she was the first female presenter on the station).
