Flora Purim

Vocalist and composer Flora Purim is a world-class jazz singer from Brazil who possesses an uncommon six-octave range. Her performance style melds fluid phrasing, slippery jazz harmonics, and syncopation with Brazilian rhythms and folk and pop forms. She has won Downbeat's Best Female Jazz Vocalist critics' poll four times. After emigrating to America in 1966, she began working professionally with Stan Getz and Duke Pearson.
