Colombian salsa outfit Grupo Niche was founded in Bogotá in 1979 by musical director, singer, composer, and producer Jairo Varela. The band achieved massive success after relocating to Cali, a city that would soon become the epicenter of tropical music, and releasing their fifth album No Hay Quinto Malo (1984).
