Biography

Noted for her "absolute perfection .. refined style...and a ravishing sonority" this remarkable flutist has held the position of principal flute with the New York Philharmonic for 15 years. She also continues to pursue a career as concert soloist, chamber player, recording artist, author, and teacher. At the age of 14, she made her professional debut with the Minnesota Orchestra. Baxtresser attended the Juilliard School of Music in New York, where she studied with Julius Baker and graduated with honors.
