b. c.1973. US female rapper whose debut album was an acclaimed, thoughtful variant on the gangsta rap trip. LeShaun had become a single mother at the age of 18, experiences recalled in tracks like ‘Young Girlz', and brought maternal wisdom to bear on a number of her better cuts. The influence of Queen Latifah, her stated idol, was undeniably strong. She also collaborated on the Lords Of The Underground cut, ‘Flow On'.
