Leaving Records co-founder Matthewdavid gained prominence as part of the Los Angeles experimental beatmaking scene, but his recordings have often drifted away from hip-hop, exploring ambient and new age influences. After titling a 2013 full-length Mindflight, he began releasing new age material as Matthewdavid's Mindflight, starting with the 2015 cassette Ashram.
