While his profile was never high, Tommy Stewart -- often credited as Thomas Stewart -- is familiar to soul, funk, and disco fanatics who pore over LP sleeve credits. Stewart's first significant work was for the Buddah label, for which he wrote, arranged, and produced the material for the Spirit of Atlanta's 1973 album The Burning of Atlanta -- expansive, strings-enhanced funk fit for a blaxploitation film.
