Biography
Uroš Umek, aka Umek, is a Slovenian DJ and producer who has been active since the early '90s. Born and raised in Ljubljana, Umek was originally drawn to acid house, but he eventually converted to techno and quickly developed his stark, aggressive approach to the genre. He has released 12" singles and EPs on dozens of labels, including several he either founded or co-founded, such as Consumer Recreation, Recycled Loops, Astros Discos, and 1605. Among his most notable albums and commercial DJ mixes are On Monoïd (Monoïd, 1999), Neuro (Tehnika, 2002), Umek? Hell Yeah (Hell Yeah, ...
