Wanda Dee

The first woman inducted into Afrika Bambaataa's Zulu Nation, Wanda Dee became the first solo female DJ to score with two consecutive platinum singles -- "The Goddess" and "To the Bone" -- in 1989. When techno band KLF sampled her vocals from "To the Bone," Dee sued the group. An out-of-court settlement resulted in her being paid cash and being given co-writing credits and publishing royalties.
