The tradition of Indian percussion was revolutionized in the late 20th century by the prolific, award-winning, tabla maestro Zakir Hussain. The son of Ustad Allah Rakha (longtime collaborator with Ravi Shankar), Hussain inherited his father's thirst for bringing the music of India to the international stage.
