Perrie Edwards' Henna Tattoos: Little Mix Singer Slammed For Cultural Appropriation

Perrie Edwards is getting slammed on social media for getting (temporary) henna tattoos to celebrate her birthday. Many are accusing the Little Mix singer of cultural appropriation. See photos below.

On Saturday, one day before the British star turned 23, Edwards posted two Instagram photos from her early celebration. In one, she’s seen getting the artwork done on her right hand. “The beautiful @pavan_henna getting me ready for my shindig,” she captioned the snapshot.'

In the second, Edwards is pictured with a henna design not just on her hand, but also all down her left arm. Pavan, who describes herself as the “world’s fastest henna artist,” posted two photos of the songstress on her own Instagram page, too. But the pics have set off a firestorm on Twitter, where “Perrie” has become a trending topic, with many pointing out this isn’t the first time she’s been criticized for henna art.

@zaptatzayn tweeted, “will perrie ever learn she gets called out on this on multiple occasions, she isnt a bad person but shes choosing to ignore ppls advice.” @mccartneyjdb wrote, “Perrie is so ignorant and she will never learn, she’s so extra. How do people continue continue to defend and like her.” @romanhoIidayau said, “I feel like Perrie is just playing dumb by now I mean this has happened before and she gets called out every time but she just won’t learn.”

“LOOK I love perrie but this is seriously overboard. Wish my girl was woke on cultural appropriation,” posted @breakawayhaz. @emptygoldziam asked, “Can the next person who meets Perrie please explain to her what cultural appropriation is?” And referencing Edwards’ ex Zayn Malik, @killyaselves1d even tweeted, “Perrie the type of girl to say its okay to wear henna cause she was once engaged to a brown boy lmaoo.”

Many fans, however, also came to Edwards’ defense. @danixomendes argued, “like Perrie gets a henna and everyone bashed her but no one bashed Justin [Bieber] for his dreads.” @jadeswoIves stated, “if it was cultural appropriation that woman wouldn’t have put henna on Perrie and her family & friends.” @kingharryeezus also commented, “what Perrie did is offensive & she’s definitely ignorant on the topic but I wish u guys would stop acting like she’s genuinely a bad person.”

@jadeythirlwll insisted, “Henna isn’t cultural appropriation. 1) because it’s not that deep 2) even if it were that deep, perrie’s appreciating not appropriating.” And @mixersversion simply said, “I don’t want perrie to get hate and definitely not on her birthday.”
