Um, The Judge Who Tossed Kesha's Case Is Married To A Lawyer With Sony Ties

August 24, 2016

Sounds like Sony Music might have had an upper leg in their legal war against Kesha, considering New York Supreme Court Justice Shirley Kornreich, who tossed aside the singer's case against Dr. Luke, is married to a lawyer with affiliation to the record label.

As the New York Post pointed out, Shirley Kornreich is married to a lawyer by the name of Ed Kornreich, who is a partner at Proskauer Rose, a firm that lists Sony/RCA as one of their clients. It extends beyond just the singer's case. Back in 2004, it was reported that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) launched an investigation into the oblivious conflict of interest.

"The FBI is probing powerful Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Marylin Diamond and two colleagues on the bench – Justices Shirley Kornreich and Judith Gische – for allegedly doling out judicial favors to friends and associates," the Post reported. "Agents in the FBI’s 14-member corruption unit are examining a series of complex ties that link the judges to various people and firms appearing before them in dozens of cases."

In case you forgot, Kesha, who is currently on tour, withdrew her California lawsuit against the super-producer for sexual assault and abuse. Her New York appeal is still in place. Sony Music has yet to respond.
