As former One Direction member Niall Horan embarks on his solo career, recently releasing his very first solo single "This Town," the 23-year-old performed his new song for the very first time live during the 2016 American Music Awards.

Niall took to the AMAs stage, in a white shirt, vest, and jeans, rocking his acoustic guitar. He was joined by a small band consisting of a piano-player, cellist, and drummer as he performed "This Town."
Niall is currently working on his debut solo album, and earlier this month, the singer/songwriter told iHeartRadio during an interview what fans can expect from the forthcoming record:
"There [are] one or two more [acoustic songs]. There's one in particular that's probably my favorite that is literally, from what I can kind of guess, it's gonna be just me and an acoustic guitar, and maybe a tiny, little bit of piano." He adds, "But the rest of them are a bit more gigged up, because if I play 13 of like 'This Town' at a concert, you'd probably bore people to death, so I'm not gonna do that. And also, these bands that I grew up listening to have up tempo music too, so I'm looking forward to getting out there, and doing some shows actually."
Earlier on the AMAs red carpet, Niall also gave a status update on the recording of his album. He told E! News that he's already recorded half of it, and there will be around 11-12 songs in total. "I'm in the middle of recording it. It's a longer process than recording everything from scratch. All the music is live. I've recorded half of it; I'm thinking like 11-12 song album. I recorded about half of that. I'm still kind of in the writing, recording process. It should be coming soon, I guess."
