Missy Elliott Fans Slam Adidas Originals Ad That Copies Her 'The Rain' Video Style

Adidas Originals isn't having the best luck with advertisers today (April 5). Its new ad starring Dej Loaf is rubbing people the wrong way because of its hypocrisy.
Who doesn't know and adore Missy Elliott's music video for her 1997 single "The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)"? In the visual, Elliott rocks a large garbage bag-styled look and dances in the stormy weather -- and looks effortlessly fly while doing so. This vid is one of the most memorable ones in hip hop. So, you should always honor it!
Unfortunately, Adidas didn't get that memo. This Adidas ad is all about originality and being a trendsetter! Two things that Elliott was and still is today. So, when the company uploaded IG videos of Loaf rocking an damn near similar garbage bag-look without mentioning Elliott one time, fans of the hip hop vet weren't having it.
People have been posting comments under the posts with disapproval, as they are saying that you can't have an ad representing uniqueness and bite someone style in the process. "Originally Missy," IG user _jaesus_ said, while sinemaxseason commented, "Missy Elliot swag." IG user conart_422 was all of us when they said, "Oh man they say original!? Really umm looks like Missy Elliot, The Rain video released in 1997..."
Take a look at the controversial posts below and tell us what you think.
Let's also note that we're not mad at Loaf for this. She most likely had no input in Adidas' creative process for this new commercial.
