Tamar Braxton Shares Her Father's Shocking Reaction After Hearing 'My Man'

In an interview with HipHollywood.com, Tamar Braxton opened up about her new single "My Man," which she wrote from the perspective of her mother, Evelyn Braxton. 

When Tamar was younger, her father, Michael Braxton, had an affair on Evelyn with another woman. This caused her parents to get a divorce. Fast forward all of these years later, Tamar decided to make this song in hopes of opening a dialogue between her parents -- who still aren't on the best terms -- and moving on from the past hurt. 

“The song came about because I felt it was necessary to say,” the singer/songwriter explained. “It was just everything that was going on with my family at the time, it just made sense to speak about it.”

We saw Tamar's mother's reaction to "My Man" on last week's episode of "Braxton Family Values." But, how did her father respond to the song? “Listen, I was I not going to put out this record without letting my parents hear it first,” Tamar said. “So I played it for my dad and his reaction was a little different. He was actually a little flattered. He was like, ‘You wrote a song about me?’ without listening, listening to the lyrics. I’m sure now he’s probably thinking differently.”

The star was also asked how she forgave her father for cheating on her mother. Tay Tay said: “You have to realize it is not your relationship. And it doesn’t have anything to do with you. It’s not your business. Although you are the product of the relationship, it’s not your relationship.”
