Mom Gives Birth To Baby Born Without Face. Years Later, She Looks Different

Vitoria Marchioli was born without a face. The little girl was diagnosed with Treacher Collins Syndrome, a condition that caused 40 of her facial bones to stop developing.

Doctors gave her hours to live and didn’t even offer the baby life support. However, 9 years later, her family has celebrated her 9th birthday.

Ronaldo and Jocilene Marchioli never expected Vitoria to live, but doctors credit the Brazilian family’s relentless love and care for their daughter with saving her life.

“She does not have any life expectancy, we do not know how long she will survive, we didn’t expect her to make it until her 9th birthday but are so grateful she has,” Ronaldo told Caters News. “Doctors can’t explain how she has lived so long, but they believe it is down to our care and the love we have for her that has kept her alive.”

Vitoria has undergone eight surgeries to reconstruct her face. It isn’t easy caring for a little girl with unique features. The family feels as though they have been ostracized simply for loving Vitoria and keeping her alive.

“We have been verbally abused and rejected by the public because of the appearance of our daughter,” Ronaldo said. “Even our other daughters have told us that children at school verbally abuse them for the appearance of Vitória.”

The family is sharing their story to appeal to the more compassionate side of humanity and to raise funds for Vitoria’s ongoing medical care.

“Vitória receives all the care, affection, and possible love that we can give her. We try every day to help her as much as we can,” Ronaldo says. “In future, we hope humanity will have more love for people independent of their appearance, skin color, race, religion, and more.”
