Thanks to her collaboration with Gospel vocal powerhouse Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Nicki Minaj has reached the Billboard Hot Gospel charts.
The rapper contributed a verse on Leonard's single "I'm Getting Ready." The Gospel singer actually teased this joint venture a few months ago. Unfortunately, she initially received much backlash from Christians who believed that having Minaj on a Gospel song wasn't right. It didn't matter that the MC is a known fan of the singer and her music -- and Gospel music, in general. But, Leonard didn't get swayed by the hate and continued on.
Christian conviction game strong.
In fact, the Leonard posted a message on Instagram defending her decision to collaborate with the "No Frauds" MC. Leonard published a verse from the Bible in response. "Welcome with open arms fellow believers who donāt see things the way you do," she wrote.
"And donāt jump all over them every time they do or say something you donāt agree with ā even when it seems that they are strong on opinions but weak in the faith department."
It looks like Leonard sticking to her guns really paid off because now their collab is doing great numbers. On IG, Minaj posted the big news: "This is so unexpected š©just raked up 2 more #1's on Billboard. Never been on these charts b4 but won't Jesus do it?!?!!!"
The Queen Barb continued: "CONGRATULATIONS TASHA!!!!! @tashacobbsleonard thank you for including us all. Obsessed w/this song. [and billboard who is that in the pic? Pls update my sis Tasha pic right away!" See that message below.
