Cardi B Vows to Be a 'Better Example' for Young Girls: 'I'm Gonna Change'

If you couple Cardi B's bubbly personality with her hip-hop prowess, it's easy to see why so many young girls are gravitating towards the "Bodak Yellow" artist. As her stock continues to rise on the mainstream level, Cardi recently admitted that she may consider altering her persona in hopes of serving as a better role model for the youth. 

“I realized, after Halloween, a lot of little girls, they be looking up to me,” Cardi said in an Instagram video on Wednesday. “They love me and I’m thinking to myself, like, 'Yo, I really need to be a better example.'” 

She continued, “But I be trying to be a better example, though, you know what I’m saying? I’ve been trying to be more PG-13, less rated R. But I be hanging out with my hood rat friends and then they f**k me up all over again.”

Before concluding her video, she vowed to her devotees that she would work on changing for the better. “But I’m gonna change for you, little girls, because I deadass love ya,” she said. 

For Cardi, her boisterous attitude has been considered a marquee attribute in helping her gain notoriety. After displaying her comedic chops on Instagram early on in her career, Cardi segued into reality TV and flourished as a star on VH1's Love & Hip-Hop: New York. In 2016, she left the show to pursue music full-time and earned the No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Bodak Yellow" last September.
