Della Reese Has Died at Age 86

Singer and character actress Della Reese is dead at the age of 86. 

Reese went from a pop-jazz singer in the 1950s and '60s to television acting, most notably as "Tess" in the TV drama "Touched by an Angel."  

Reese was also the first black woman to guest host the "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson."  She received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1994. 

A family representative released a statement Monday that Reese died peacefully Sunday evening in California. No cause of death or additional details were provided.
