Meet The Supermarket Shelf Stocker That Looks Identical To Ed Sheeran

January 8, 2018

Ed Sheeran apparently has lots of folks that resemble his superstar ginger looks and the latest look-a-like comes from the isles of the British supermarket chain Asda.

25-year-old Wesley Byrne of Shaw, Greater Manchester is the first to admit that he gets mobbed by fans whenever he steps outside because people confuse him for the British pop star. Byrne, a local food shelf stocker at Asda, has become accustomed to the attention when asked for photos and autographs, but it's not the kind of lifestyle that his 28-year-old girlfriend Leah Howard-Smit is too happy with.

"I've developed a bit of a sense of when it's going to happen – it happens all the time when I'm out and about. Being stopped in the street and asked for pictures and autographs has started to happen more and more since he's got bigger, especially if I'm out in Manchester," he explained in a report, which was published by Daily Mail. "Most people just shout and I wave back at them. People ask for pictures with me whenever we go anywhere. A couple of times my girlfriend has glared at the women who shout and want pictures with me, she doesn't handle it very well."

However, being one of Sheeran's doppelgänger isn't all that it's cracked up to be, considering Byrne can't seem to party in peace. "A random guy on a night a few years back didn't believe I wasn't him. He spent a good 15 minutes convinced I was him and wasn't having any of it when I said I wasn't," he recalled of the incident, adding that he even wanted Byrne to start singing.

As for whether he could ever commit himself to impersonating the star 24/7, well, if Wesley could, then he would. "If I could make a career out of being an Ed Sheeran lookalike I definitely would," he admitted. "I'm just trying to keep my hair. There's a history of men in our family going bald so I just need to cling onto my ginger locks." Looks like Wesley can join the club after last year's adorable two-year-old Devon, who went viral after comparisons to the pop superstar.
