Mastodon is now a Grammy-winning metal band.

The Atlanta-based band arrived at the ceremony with three previous nominations, and took home the Grammy for Best Metal Performance on their song "Sultan's Curse."

"Thank you to heavy metal—thank you to Judas Priest and Black Sabbath for creating this kind of music that we call home," drummer Brann Dailor said while accepting the award.

Dailor took the stage alongside guitarist Bill Kelliher and bassist Troy Sanders to accept the award.

Kelliher added a thank you to the fans "for putting us up here where we are today. Thank, y'all very much."
