January 29, 2018
It’s hard to believe that it’s been a decade since 2008 (*sobs*), but let’s remember the good times and celebrate childhood with 18 of the best albums that came out that year. 2008 was the year of Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and so many more. Let’s take a look back...
1. Jonas Brothers - A Little Bit Longer
The JoBros’ sophomore effort spawned some of their biggest hits, like “Burnin’ Up,” “Lovebug” and “Tonight.”
2. Taylor Swift - Fearless
TSwift’s Fearless is home to “Love Story,” “Fifteen,” “White Horse,” “Fearless” and so many more timeless classics.
3. Miley Cyrus - Breakout
Um, never forget how good Miley’s debut album is. “7 Things,” “Breakout,” and “See You Again” — need we say more?
4. Katy Perry - One of the Boys
Katy Perry really introduced herself to the world with this one, giving us delicious candy pop like “I Kissed a Girl, “ Hot n’ Cold,” and “Waking Up in Vegas.”
5. Lady Gaga - The Fame
Gaga’s debut blessed us with “Just Dance,” “Poker Face,” “Paparazzi,” and more.

One of Ye’s best works, his 2008 record gave us Kanye classics like “Love Lockdown,” “Heartless,” and more.

An album like Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III doesn’t come around very often: The highly-anticipated LP not only spawned five singles (remember “Lollipop”?!) it also went onto become triple platinum.
8. Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend
Vampire Weekend’s debut was met with critical acclaim and success, not to mention a huge following of fans.
9. Jack’s Mannequin - The Glass Passenger
The Glass Passenger followed Andrew McMahon’s Jack’s Mannequin into its second album, featuring many a JM fan favorite, “Swim.”

Was there anything bigger than Twilight (and its soundtrack) in 2008?! Some of our faves include Paramore’s “Decode” and Iron & Wine’s “Flightless Bird, American Mouth.”
11. Coldplay - Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends
If you can hear the opening notes to “Viva la Vida” just by reading this Coldplay album title, we feel you.
12. Kings of Leon - Only by the Night
This is the album that gave us “Use Somebody” and “Sex on Fire.” Bless you, KOL.
13. Danity Kane - Welcome to the Dollhouse
“Damaged” will forever be one of the best songs of 2008. It’s the perfect jam for a car ride with your girls.
14. Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes
Fleet Foxes’ self-titled debut was consistently named one of the best albums of 2008.
15. John Mayer - Where the Light Is: John Mayer Live in Los Angeles
“Gravity” live. That is all.

Bon Iver’s debut, For Emma, Forever Ago introduced us to the indie-pop rock band, and thank God for it.
