The Witch's Cauldron Restaurant Closes Doors

March 12, 2018

After almost 50 years, Subiaco institution The Witch’s Cauldron has suddenly, and quietly, served its last garlic prawn.

Owners Tanis and Geoff Gosling told The West Australian that the decision to shut up shop wasn’t due to financial reasons, instead it was just “the right time to say goodbye”.

Staff were told on Sunday that the restaurant would close after that day’s lunch service.

The Witch’s Cauldron, famous for its garlic prawns, opened in 1970.

The West also listed what diners paid back then.

On average, entrees were $1 and mains were $1.50.

- Minestrone was 30c

- Smoked salmon was $1.50

Steak was slightly more expensive at $1.90

It’s understood the business won’t be sold and that all staff will receive their entitlements.
