Some Classes At Chico Cancelled After Person Falls To Death From Stairwell

Some classes at Chico State are cancelled this morning due to a death on campus.
Butte County Sheriff’s Deputies and Chico Police are investigating the incident as a suicide. Reports of the incident came in after 9:30 this morning. The person reportedly fell from a stairwell in Butte Hall.
Update: University Police are responding to a report that someone potentially fell from one of the stairwells in Butte Hall. Updates to follow.

It's unclear if there individual was a student.
Campus officials say there are no threats to student safety and classes will resume at noon.
The campus will offer crisis counseling services for students, faculty, and staff are available in the Bell Memorial Auditorium all day.

Upon further discussion with our professionals, Butte Hall will remain closed until further notice. Classes in that building are canceled today. Classes in Plumas Hall will resume at noon. Check email for additional updates. Counseling services available in the BMU Auditorium.
