Eagles Of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes attacked the hundreds of thousands of protesters in America and around the world who marched in solidarity with the survivors of the Parkland school shooting in Florida, calling them "disgusting vile abusers of the dead" in an Instagram post. The protesters demanded stricter gun laws after 17 teenage students were gunned down and killed in the attack. What many felt was an inspiring moment that even rock legend Paul McCartney took a part in, Hughes slammed the participants of 'March For Lives', saying the students were simply using the massacre to "take multiple days off of school playing hooky at the expense of 16 of your classmates' blood."

Hughes and the rest of his band, Eagles Of Death Metal, survived the terrorist attack at the concert venue Bataclan in Paris, where they performed in 2015. A total of 89 people, including concert attendees, venue staff, and musicians, were killed in the horrific tragedy. The band and Hughes received an outpouring of love and support after the attack but the frontman caused controversy after he said French gun control laws were partly to blame and Bataclan security was in on the attack. He has now outraged many after a lengthy and unhinged Instagram post along with an appalling anti-gun control cartoon. Hughes personally takes the 'March For Lives' as insulting, saying, "I can tell you from first-hand experience that all of you protesting and taking days off from school insult the memory of those who were killed and abuse and insult me and every other lover of liberty by your every action."

The post reads:

"Obviously....The best thing to do to combat chronic abusers and disregarders of the law(like the law against Murder) is to........pass another Law!.....Genius!!!...... but before we pass this law we’re going to denigrate the memory and curse ourselves by exploiting the death of 16 of our fellow students for a few Facebook likes and some media attention....and look how well civil rights abuses as it concerns firearms helped to protect me and my friends in Paris!!!!! This almost sounds like the plan of like a kid maybe like a high school student....!. Oh wait that’s right.... The Whitney Houston song about letting the children lead the way wasn’t actually had operating paradigm for life.....And when the truth don’t line up with your bull***t narrative just hold your breath and stamp your feet and refused to except it.... then take multiple days off of school playing hooky at the expense of 16 of your classmates blood....!.... it might be funny if it wasn’t so pathetic and disgusting......As the survivor of a mass shooting I can tell you from first-hand experience that all of you protesting and taking days off from school insult the memory of those who were killed and abuse and insult me and every other lover of liberty by your every action.....Long Live Rock’n’Roll..... and may everyone of these disgusting vile abusers of the dead live as long as possible so they can have the maximum amount of time to endure their shame....and be Cursed...."

Hughes has been remorseful for his controversial statements in the past and apologized after saying Bataclan security was in on the attack. He said in March of 2016, “I’ve been dealing with non-stop nightmares and struggling through therapy to make sense of this tragedy and insanity. I haven’t been myself since November 13. I realize there’s no excuse for my words, but for what it’s worth: I am sincerely sorry for having hurt, disrespected or accused anyone.”
