Dua Lipa’s pop takeover might make its way to the James Bond franchise if you believe a new report from the Evening Standard, which claims that the British chart-topper has high chances of being next in line for theme song duties.
On Thursday (May 10), Evening Standard suggested that the 22-year-old could potentially be in the running alongside Ed Sheeran and Jessie J to record the track. That is, according to bookers. Apparently, bookers are currently betting that the London-born singer has 4/5 odds of taking on the role. Meanwhile, Sheeran has odds of 1/3, while Jessie is at 1/6. Regardless of the selection, the act will have some big shoes to fill as the star-studded batch of Bond theme performers of yesteryears includes the likes of Shirley Bassey, Madonna, Sam Smith, Adele and many more.
Meanwhile, Daniel Craig, who is 49 years-old and set to play Bond one more time in the franchise, will be replaced by 2022, so it seems like talk of filling shoes for the 007 legacy will continue on for quite some time.
Earlier this month, Lipa and Calvin Harris released the video for their Song of the Summer contender, “One Kiss,” which sees the pair in a glitzy four-minute montage that screams retro aesthetics. She’s also working steadily on her "soulful" new album, which she described as "a new chapter to [her] life." "Because I feel like I’ve been reliving those moments for such a long time, that now I’m ready to create new ones," she told Billboard in January.
