Just hours after the governor of New York declared July 18 Billy Joel Day in the state, Billy Joel called upon one of New Jersey's greatest musical icons to help celebrate his 100th lifetime performance at Madison Square Garden.
Joel welcomed Bruce Springsteen to the stage at the World's Most Famous Arena during his historic set Wednesday night. The two dueted on Springsteen & the E Street Band's "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out" and then "Born to Run."
No artist has performed at Madison Square Garden more than Joel, whose Wednesday night concert was his 54th at the venue since 2014, when he established a monthly residency there. Joel has shown no signs of slowing down; he has concerts announced at The Garden through December.

In addition to the banners in the rafters celebrating Joel's run at The Garden, the venue announced Wednesday that the singer's Steinway & Sons piano will be permanently displayed near the entrance.
While Joel will continue his sold-out Madison Square Garden "franchise" for the foreseeable future, Springsteen recently announced that his Tony Award-winning Springsteen on Broadway stage show will be available for streaming on Netflix on December 15, the final day of the show's run at New York's Walter Kerr Theatre.
