On Saturday (August 4), Vanessa Hudgens opened up her Instagram Story for fan questions. She was asked a ton of different questions, happily revealing her skincare routine and her favorite type of dog, but one follower asked about Vanessa's most iconic film role to date. Her most iconic role, of course, is Gabriella Montez from High School Musical. Don't @ me.
"What is your favorite memory from filming HSM???" One follower asked. Vanessa gave a really thoughtful answer about her time on the High School Musical set. "Probably the moment in the final High School Musical when the curtain drops," said Vanessa. "Because it was such a real moment of us saying goodbye to kind of our childhood."
Vanessa Hudgens was just 17 years old when the first High School Musical premiered on the Disney Channel in January 2006. She spent the latter half of her teen years working on the musical film franchise, so, she really means it when she says the curtain drop was a goodbye to her childhood. She was just about to turn 20 when the final installment, High School Musical: Senior Year, was released in theaters in October 2008.
Even though it's been over a decade since the first film debuted, Vanessa remains close friends with her cast mates. She remains particularly close with Ashley Tisdale, who played Sharpay Evans.
It's clear that these films still hold a special place in Vanessa's heart all these years later. You know what they say, though: Once a wildcat, always a wildcat.
