Ariana Grande has inked several parts of her body in the last year, but her most recent tattoo looks like it's the biggest piece she's added yet and it features some major symbolism.
On Wednesday (August 29), the 25-year-old star took to her Instagram Story to unveil the tattoo of Chihiro, the main character from the 2002 anime film Spirited Away. "Chihiro’s growth into a capable individual is a core factor to the movement of Spirited Away‘s plot. During her adventure in the Spirit World, she matures from an easily-scared girl with a child-like personality to match her age to a hard-working, responsible, and brave young girl who has learned to put her fears aside for those she cares for," the pop star reportedly wrote via PEOPLE, quoting the plot of the anime classic. "To protect her friends and rescue her parents from a spell that has turned them into livestock, Chihiro sheds her former personality and adapts to her environment to become a courageous, quick-witted and reliable girl."
Similar to the main character, the singer, who is celebrating the chart-topping debut of Sweetener, knows all too well about stepping up to the plate to face her fears, particularly after the tragic events of the terrorist attack at the 2017 "Dangerous Woman Tour" stop in Manchester, England. Elsewhere in her feed, Grande tagged the tattoo artist Mira Mariah. In case you don't know the history behind Grande's tattoos, Mariah previously worked on the singer's bumblebee ink behind her ear, a tribute to the Manchester victims.
