Mac Miller: 10 Things You Might Not Have Known About The Rapper

On September 7, 2018, the world lost Mac Miller. Music fans knew Mac as a successful rapper, but there was a lot to the hip-hop star that people weren't aware of. Here are 10 things you might not have known about him:
1. Mac's real name was Malcolm James McCormick.
2. Miller's mom was a photographer and his dad was an architect.
3. Mac's dad was Christian and his mom was Jewish. He was raised Jewish and had a Bar Mitzvah.
4. Mac grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
5. In high school, Mac was into playing sports, but once he decided he wanted to go into hip-hop, he gave up all of it to focus on his future career.
6. Mac taught himself how to play piano, guitar, drums and bass.
7. As a pre-teen, Mac was very interested in music and wanted to be a singer, but at age 14 he started rapping and pursued that instead.
8. Before becoming Mac Miller, he went by the name EZ Mac. As EZ Mac, he put out the mixtape But My Mackin' Ain't Easy.
9. Mac used to be in the rap group The Ill Spoken along with fellow Pittsburgh rapper Beedie.
10. Mac made his acting debut in 2011 on the VH1 show Single Ladies. He played a fictionalized version of himself who sold a mixtape to one of the main characters.
