A star is definitely born...and it's not Lady Gaga, though her performance in the upcoming film directed by Bradley Cooper is getting rave reviews. We're actually talking about Charlie, Cooper's pup, who the first-time director cast in the film.
"There was no nepotism — I wanted this relationship with the dog,” Cooper told People last week at the film’s premiere. “[Jackson and Ally] don’t have a child together but they have a dog together, and I wanted it to be part of their story. I love dogs."
Cooper cast a few members of his inner circle in his directorial debut, so, "why not Charlie?" he asked. It makes sense he'd want to bring his doggo along for the ride, especially because Charlie holds a special place in Cooper's heart. He named Charlie after his late father, which "meant a lot for him to be in the film,” Cooper said.
Now that Charlie is a big Hollywood star, Cooper joked he “has an agent. I don’t talk to him much anymore. He doesn’t return my calls. He always walks away from me unless I have food.”
A Star is Born hits theaters on October 5th, 2018. Let's be honest, we're all going to see it for Charlie now, right? Okay, and maybe Lady Gaga, too.
