'The Walking Dead' Actor Scott Wilson Dies at Age 76

Scott Wilson, best known for his role as Hershel on The Walking Dead, has died. He was 76 years old.
As ET reports, the actor's rep Dominic Mancini said Wilson's death was due to complications from leukemia. He called Wilson "a national treasure, a calm voice and a gentle spirit to everyone who came in contact with him." He passed away peacefully at his home in L.A. "Scott will be missed," Mancini lamented.
The news broke on Saturday (October 6) by the official Walking Dead Twitter handle.
"We are deeply saddened to report that Scott Wilson, the incredible actor who played Hershel on #TheWalkingDead, has passed away at the age of 76," the tweet reads. "Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Rest in paradise, Scott. We love you!"

Wilson joined the hit show in its second season as Lauren Cohan’s Maggie's onscreen father, and met his onscreen demise in the fourth season. Showrunner Angela Kang revealed during TWD's New York Comic-Con panel on Saturday that Wilson was set to appear on the new season. No additional details have been given. He was also planning on visiting the Walker Stalker Con in Atlanta, Georgia, later this month.
