On Monday (November 26), Cage the Elephant told fans what they've been waiting to hear for the past three years: a new album is coming.
"Record done. Mixed. Mastered," the band tweeted.
The album will follow the alt-rockers' 2015 release, Tell Me I'm Pretty, which was produced by The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach. Though we haven't received any new music from the band since then, they did appease fans by releasing Unpeeled, a live album that was recorded on tour and features some of Cage the Elephant's biggest singles, along with a few covers, in 2017.
Naturally, when fans heard the news they lost their minds. "ITS ALREADY MY FAVORITE ALBUM" one fan declared via Twitter, while others asked for more details including title and release date, and wondered if this meant the band would be heading on the road soon.
They did recently share the stage with Metallica for a charity concert earlier this month and will also be headlining the Shaky Knees festival in Atlanta next May, but so far that's the only live date the band has announced for next year.
Will they make our holidays even more merry and bright by releasing their new album before the year's end? We're about to find out.
Check out their tweet below.
