Nick Jonas And Priyanka Chopra Reveal How Their Relationship Really Started

Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra are set to marry in Jodhpur, India this weekend following a whirlwind romance. Rumors swirled about the couple long before they officially stepped out together, though nobody was able to really pinpoint when, exactly, these two got together. Was it at the 2017 Met Gala? Before? After? The timeline of their relationship remained a mystery until today (Nov. 30) when the bride and groom spilled literally all the tea about their courtship to Vogue.

While we know that the first time Priyanka and Nick were photographed together was when Calvin Klein invited them to be his guests to the 2017 Met Gala and they walked the red carpet together, it turns out that the pair already had a bit of history at that point. Their relationship, they revealed, started as all good modern love stories do: with a Twitter DM.

Nick began the domino effect of their relationship by texting Priyanka's Quantico co-star Graham Rogers:

‘Priyanka. Is. Wow.’ ” Jonas lets the words hang. “That’s not the way I talk.”

Nick then slid into his future wife's DMs back in September 2016.

“I’m hearing from a few mutual friends that we should meet.” I ask for the date. “September 8, 2016,” Jonas says. “We checked this morning.” He goes on: “She responded day of with a message that said, ‘My team can read this. Why don’t you just text me.’ ” (Here Chopra erupts, like she’s cheering at the Super Bowl: “Boy got the number!”)'

Priyanka revealed recently that the first text he sent to her was very Linkedin chic. "I think we should connect," the 26-year-old pop star wrote.

Nick and Priyanka continued to exchange texts that Nick describes as "friendly with an eye toward flirtation," however, they didn't meet in person until the 2017 Vanity Fair Oscars Party. When Nick saw Priyanka walking through the crowd, he made a bold gesture:

Jonas was hanging out at the bar, dressed in a velvet suit, a white rose tucked into his breast pocket. He noticed Chopra breezing through, in a long black sequined Michael Kors Collection dress.

"And I put my drink down," Jonas tells me, "get on one knee—this is in front of a bunch of people—and I say, ‘You’re real. Where have you been all my life?’ Like, loud."

They grabbed a quick drink that night, but then didn't see each again for a few months. They grabbed another drink together a week before the 2017 Met Gala. After the Met Gala, though, they did not see each other again for an entire year. When they were able to schedule another date in Los Angeles - Nick invited her to the Chateau Marmont and a live performance of Beauty and the Beast - it all clicked into place for him:

"She walks into the Chateau, and I feel an overwhelming sense of peace and understanding about this next chapter of my life." The next night, they went to the Dodgers game. The following morning, Jonas called his mother and informed her that he was going to marry Chopra. "This is date three," Chopra says.

After their third date, everything moved pretty quickly. Just a few short months later, Jonas proposed to the actress while on vacation in Greece. They were visiting the island of Crete for Priyanka's 36th birthday in July.

"I got down on one knee, again, and I said: Will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me?" Jonas says. “No joke—she took about 45 seconds. Forty-five seconds of silence.” (Chopra says she was speechless.) Jonas pressed on. "I’m going to put this ring on your finger now unless you have any objections."

A month later, they celebrated their engagement in India with both their families. Another four short months later, they are back in India for their wedding, which they describe as an "extravaganza" that will have both a traditional Indian ceremony and Christian ceremony:

The three-day extravaganza promises to be over the top. "People will need vacations after this wedding," Chopra says... "Two very different cultures and religious backgrounds, and the beauty of it was, there was so much love and acceptance for our side."

Nick and Priyanka are set to tie the knot on Sunday (Dec.4). Is it too late to snag an invite?
