Tekashi 6ix9ine's time behind bars has been anything but comfortable.
Despite reportedly being given special treatment at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center (where he was initially sent after being arrested on November 18), TMZ reports the 22-year-old rapper was "gangsta checked" just hours after his arrival to the facility.
According to the gossip site, 6ix9ine, who is an alleged member of the 9 Trey Gangsta Bloods, was "confronted by inmates affiliated with the Crips who were in the intake area as he arrived. That's when one inmate 'G Checked' him — meaning [they] stepped up to him to see if he [was] a real gangsta or just a wannabe" — on November 19. The Crip gang member reportedly told Tekashi to know his place and understand that he was not the one in charge before the detention center's staff stepped in to ensure the face-off didn't escalate.
The "FEFE" rapper's attorney, Lance Lazzaro, confirmed the news to TMZ. Tekashi "was being threatened in jail. However, he was not scared nor did he request being removed," he said, referencing Tekashi's jail transfer to a safer facility following the incident. "The [Bureau of Prisons], acting upon these threats, removed him to a different facility to eliminate the threat."
As previously reported, 6ix9ine is currently being held in a federal jail without bail, facing 32 years to life, after being charged with six federal crimes. He is being accused of committing the string of crimes with five of his alleged Nine Trey gang members, including: "conspiracy with others to commit racketeering, discharging a firearm while committing a crime, committing a crime of violence in aid of racketeering, assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a firearm, and committing a crime in aid of racketeering.
The "BEBE" rapper's trial is set for September 4, 2019. So, he will seemingly have to wait behind bars for nearly a year as he was denied bail in his last court appearance.
