The House Swapping Website From "The Holiday" Is Now Real!

Remember in the movie “The Holiday” when Cameron Diaz arrived at that quaint cottage in England that was so cute we couldn’t stand it? She got the quiet home she needed, a gourmet food shop nearby with all the wine and cheese she wanted, and then, just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, Jude Law shows up at the door. And remember that she used a home exchange site to trade homes with Kate Winslet, who went to sunny California to stay in Cameron’s luxurious home? Well, now 12 years after the movie was released, that home swapping site exists and you can actually swap like that in real life.

A company called Love Home Swap was inspired by the film and lets you sign up to trade homes with others on the site. It’s basically free, aside from the small subscription fee and then you pick out where you want to go in the world and take it from there. You use filters to search for a home, advertise your own home and message homes you like to see if they’re interested. And you don’t even have to swap at the same time like they did in the movie, so it’s easy to arrange.

Of course there are no guarantees you’ll find your Jude Law wearing glasses in an English cottage, but you could try to make your Christmas romance come true. And at worst, you’ll have a lovely getaway at some cool destination, so that’s not so bad.
