Thom Yorke wrapped up his North American solo tour on Saturday (December 22) at the Chelsea in Las Vegas, where he gave fans a little Yuletide treat.
He began playing the intro to "Reckoner" off Radiohead's 2008 album In Rainbows; however, when it came time to sing he began to gently croon the lyrics to "Silent Night." He sang the first verse of the Christmas classic before transitioning to the lyrics of "Reckoner." The mashup was mesmerizing, to say the least.
A fan caught all seven minutes and 48 seconds of the performance on video. Watch the footage below.
This wasn't the only surprise Yorke gave fans during his Tomorrow's Modern Boxes tour. He briefly reunited his band Atoms For Peace in Los Angeles, bringing Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea; producer Nigel Goodrich (keyboards, synthesizers, guitars), and Beck/R.E.M. drummer Joey Waronker to perform the group's namesake, a song off his solo album The Eraser.
He also incorporated "Unmade" into his set list — one of the songs on the Susperia soundtrack he helmed. Another song off the project, "Susperium," was recently announced on the Oscars 2019 shortlist for "Best Original Song." The official nominee announcement is slated to come next month.
