The hub of the entertainment industry might be in LA, but that doesn’t stop many celebs from staying out of the spotlight when they’re not busy working. From the beaches of Hawaii to the mountains in Switzerland, these 23 celebrities have decided to make their permanent homes away from the California hills. Of course, many have second or part-time homes in LA, but their hearts are in their true homes away from the bustling limelight. If you garnered that much attention just going to the grocery store, wouldn’t you want to live a more private life too?

The world is quite literally their oyster, so where did they end up?

1. Meryl Streep - Salisbury, Connecticut

Meryl Streep has lived in Connecticut most of her life. She even attended the Yale Drama School.

2. Elijah Wood - Austin, Texas

Elijah was recently spotted happily riding a scooter in Austin in September of last year. 

3. Dave Chappelle - Yellow Springs, Ohio

Dave Chappelle has talked about his Hollywood hideaway in his stand-up acts and has even attended a Yellow Springs town hall meeting.

4. Jack Johnson - Oahu, Hawaii 

Jack Johnson grew up in Hawaii where he still lives with his wife and children. The surfing culture and Hawaiian way of life have greatly influenced his music. 

5. Hanson - Tulsa, Oklahoma

The three Hanson brothers still reside in their hometime of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

6. Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban - Leipers Fork, Tennessee

Nicole and Keith live close to the country hub city Nashville, Tennessee.
