Third Eye Blind Announces Summer Gods Tour w/ Jimmy Eat World & Ra Ra Riot

Summer is coming. And Third Eye Blind is ready for the season, because they are hitting the road on their just-announced "Summer Gods Tour" with Jimmy Eat World and Ra Ra Riot. 

The 2019 "Summer Gods Tour" will kick off on June 14th in Los Angeles and travel through 34 cities across the country before wrapping up in Irvine on August 3rd. Tickets go on sale on February 1st via LiveNation.com, and in keeping in line with the band's efforts to tour green, a portion of ticket sales from the tour will be donated to help offset their carbon dioxide footprint. Third Eye Blind has invested in a a carbon offset project in Alaska managed by ClimeCo.

Third Eye Blind's frontman Stephan Jenkins recently spoke with Alt 98.7's Harms and opened up about the tour during an exclusive interview. He said of the trek, "We're going to do that Summer Gods things again, and we're really happy that we're bringing out Jimmy Eat World, and the Ra Ra Riot are going to be with us. So it really feels like more of [like] a festival thing because Third Eye Blind takes a lot of time in picking out the bands to play with us."

And although the band has no previous relationship with Jimmy Eat World, it's because of their fans that they are joining them on the "Summer Gods Tour." Jenkins explained, "We've never hung out. I think there's been appreciation from afar, and the reason why having them tour with us came together is because of fans. Because for me, the best moments of summer were outdoor rock concerts where you feel like it's all happening, and you feel like you're a part of it and you're caught up in it. And the thing that I like to cultivate at Third Eye Blind shows, especially in the summers, that people find each other. You will meet people there. You'll find people there. There's this connection that makes us feel alive, and that is somehow nighttime's where that all comes together."

Third Eye Blind last released a full-length album in 2015 (Dopamine) and in 2018 dropped a seven-song EP called Thanks for Everything, but the band is currently back in the studio working on new music. Jenkins explained to Harms, "Third Eye Blind feels like a brand new band that's out there gunning for the gig. We have this urgency to play, and the other thing comes from the fans, that they keep this music alive in they bring an energy when we play live that is just so effusive that I marvel at it."

The "Summer Gods Tour" was teased by the band earlier this week when they shared a Game of Thrones inspired image with the words "Summer Is Coming," a play on the popular HBO show's "Winter Is Coming" tag line. See the full list of "Summer Gods Tour" dates below.
